At its meeting on April 30, 2018, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Board of Directors reviewed the recommendation of the CHEA Committee on Recognition regarding the eligibility application submitted by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). The Board of Directors accepted the committee recommendation and deemed NWCCU eligible to undertake a recognition review. The CHEA-recognized scope of accreditation for which NWCCU seeks recognition is as follows:
The accreditation and preacreditation (“Candidacy status”) of postsecondary degree-granting educational institutions in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, and the accreditation of programs offered via distance education within these institutions. (2018).
